Dear Tom,

Part of Apple's iPhone sensation is the spawning of the popular marketing phrase - "there's an App for that". Apple's online App Store gives access to 10,000s of software programs accessible via the AT&T network and usable for the phone.

Recently Verizon (a key AT&T / iPhone competitor) created a successful marketing campaign titled There's a MAP for that a parody of this popular phrase. What Verizon's ad clearly demonstrates is - how a simple MAP image can communicate a complex message.

The value of maps has been a mainstay on the WEB for years now. Google Maps and Google Earth provide single point, instant, low cost online access for many Web devices (PCs plus iPhone, Blackberry and Android Smart Phones) to a wealth of every expanding information. These Maps can now be customized (just like a custom program in the App Store) so "There's a MAP for that" takes on additional meaning. Having proprietary customized MAP presentations placed on your company's WEB site, available to ALL your WEB site visitors.

MAPS are popular because they are convenient, concentrated and visually oriented sources of information. Today's internet "interactive" maps are dynamic and almost alive, more useful than ever. A WEB map is:

  • A storehouse of information - easily segmented into bite size pieces
  • SPEED - vision is our fastest method for communicating information
  • CONVENIENT - can be immediately accessed with one mouse click
  • POWERFUL - has point & click simplicity for use
  • FLEXIBLE - is routinely updated automatically from many sources
  • + highly customizable, for almost any need "There's a MAP for that"
Recently we built a custom map for our Non-Profit client using only standard GAFYD.net features. It was created to assist the sponsors, exhibitors and attendees going to their annual convention. Initially the typical information about venues, hotels and points of interest were being sent via many emails in text form. It became a bit overwhelming for the staff and difficult to provide to co-promoters of the event.

With a custom map just for this event, layered on top of public information many advantages were gained:

  • Emails could have a simple icon, with 1 click the user had immediate access to all event venues and lodging facilities including their phone numbers and street addresses.
  • Venue locations were easily identified and directions to or from them by car, walking or public transit, easily obtained.
  • One click access to Hotels (w/ Special Room rates posted) and all their amenities and property pictures.
  • Even local tourist attractions / tour operators could be easily found.

Our standard GAFYD.net (Google Apps For Your Domain via Net) allows integration of Google Maps directly into your custom company Web site. Let your company gain a reputation for "cool features" while providing great value to your site visitors.

Best Regards, TOM
