Google has added a unique layer of transparency to it's operations. Something not seen before in the industry for FREE services. Ques: When was the last time you were able to see the real status of YAHOO, HOTMAIL or COMCAST email servers? ANS: Never.

Check it out. On the home page of www.GAFYD.net you'll find a direct link to the new Google Apps Status Dashboard.

Gas Prices Sign

Google wants to use open protocols and standards to give consumers a better understanding of how much electricity they use.

On 2/9/09, Ed Lu, (Google engineer), announced the company was working on PowerMeter, a software tool to show consumers their home energy information almost in real time, right on their computer.

Don't drive blind when it comes to car repairs

Auto mechanics sometimes rank high on consumer complaint lists. The web now helps you gauge if you're being taken for a ride when you ask for a repair quote. Just go to www.repairpal.com to get free realistic quotes based on surveys of prices at thousands of shops.

Quotes are specific to your car's make, model and year and accurate to a Zip Code level

Dear Tom,

It wasn't many years ago that we were all pretty amazed by just plain e-mail. Think about it for a moment as you read the lines below.

  • send a note or letter to anywhere in the world as easily as sending it next door
  • no need to buy postage, lick stamps or even buy paper or envelops
  • it takes only minutes for the recipient to get your message versus hours or days (sometimes delivery is almost instantaneous)
  • send 5, 10 or 100+ people a message as easily as sending to one
  • save, store and speed search your messages virtually forever
Well it's time to be amazed again! Messaging technology continues to raise the bar and Google's G-mail (a primary service in www.GAFYD.net) is leading the way. Google's web based e-mail system should more accurately be called e-communication. There are many reasons why, but the major one is the continuing addition of "real time" message exchange abilities. All packaged in one web application that can be accessed from anywhere at anytime via any WEB connected PC.

Mail systems by definition use the "store and forward" process. That establishes a "delay time" between when a message is created/sent and when it is received/read. Over history this delay time has constantly gotten smaller - going from the pony express to FedEx overnight to electronic delivery - but a time delay still always exists.

Telephone calls on the other hand are considered "real time" messaging. Sub-second delays in moving sound may exist, but the experience to us is actually "real time" - the recipient gets the message at the moment we send it. This can radically change communication dynamics (sometimes for the better, sometimes not) - but it is very different than just mail.

Endless amounts of new software have appeared that provide "real time" messaging. HOWEVER, G-mail is the only massively adopted, web-based e-mail system that allows all 5 leading types of e-communication from one program:

  • E-mail (with threading, labels & search)
  • Text Messaging (allows written exchanges with cell phones)
  • Chat (allows group or 1on1 discussions)
  • Voice (add voice inflection to conversation)
  • Video Calls (adds the benefit of body language to a conversation)
Visit our Blog site www.AllThingsIp.com to learn the operation, common uses and benefits of each above messaging technique. I promise, you will be surprised to learn just how simple, beneficial and powerful these services are when used from a web interface. www.GAFYD.net (Google Apps For Your Domain via Net) has a proven advantage for wining this game and doing so for very low cost.

Best Regards, TOM

This month's event is scheduled to happen inside a piece of Denver History. Nearly 145 years after its original construction, visitors can still step back into early Denver at the Blake Street Vault - where good drinks, great food, and even better stories tell of a time when life - and the occasional indiscretion - was lived for the moment.

For those who are wondering about the "vault" part of the name...

The basement brick wall and hidden staircase leading from the trap door were removed from around the vault to expose it for public viewing. After complete restoration, the vault will hold privately owned bottles of Jack Daniels Single Barrel - specially selected for patrons.
