"People think that a $2,500 server is so cheap you don't need to worry about it. But over three years, the cost of electricity nearly equals the cost of the server." - Kenneth Brill, Founder and Executive Director, Uptime Institute.

"Cash flow" is crucial to survival in these economic times. Shouldn't you review options that save or literally eliminate significant ongoing expenses?

Dear Tom,

From the moment of birth, we are equipped with nature's very best "wireless" communicator, our voice! So why now do we have the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, HTC-Touch and 1,000 other devices seeking to provide ideal "wireless" communication?

Our voice works 24x7, can easily adjust volume, content and speed (no dials, buttons, keys or check boxes to manage) and since it's attached to our brain, it's smart. Able to instantly adjust as needed to altering situations. But distance is a problem, we can only talk so loud right! So we create devices to help bridge the long distances.

Yet we are then forced to "type / write" far more than "talk" when it comes to sending or getting data to these devices. Mobility is not enhanced very much if I have to stop to type stuff in or manually record by hand everything I hear spoken back to me - yet I do want all the benefits of the data being written down.

IP networks and software applications are changing that situation. Released in April 2007, GOOG-411 (1-800-GOOG411) is a FREE telephone service for obtaining phone number information (business only at this time). At $1.50-$2.00 each, toll 411 information calls can get expensive, so FREE is good, and you can use it from a regular land line phone or a cell phone. But the best part is, it provides yet another "instant mobility" component to users of www.GAFYD.net our Google Apps, cloud computing based service offering.

Remember, you only need to use your voice to REQUEST data, and then use your voice again to tell the system what to do with the data it finds. This includes putting it in written form if your desire - all done 100% hands free! No forced interruption to your driving, walking or other activity is required to type-in the data request or record the results. When using a mobile phone you have all three options shown below.

  1. Connect Me - the system dials the phone number for you
  2. Text IT - get a TEXT message of Business name, address and ph#
  3. Map IT- get a link to Google Maps sent (usable by any cell phone with a web connection)
